Oregon
Farmers' Markets Association:
The Organization
The
Oregon Farmers’ Market Association (OFMA)
is an all-volunteer non-profit
501(c) (6) organization.
The Association’s vision is to
better serve
Oregon
farmers
markets, and increase its visibility as a strong
advocate for farm direct marketing. Its
members include market organizations, market board
members, farmers, industry representatives, and
community supporters. Our
organization seeks to promote, support and develop
the relationship between market shoppers and
farmers for the benefit of
Oregon
farmers and
Oregon
communities.
The OFMA Board consists of 7-15 volunteer
Directors who live all over the state, and
represent market managers and some industry
sectors. They’re charged with developing
goals, programs and services in support of the
mission, guiding principles and membership.
Areas of expertise/contribution that are of
special interest to the Association are: Organizational
development,
Fundraising, Nonprofit management, Strategic
planning; Accounting
& financial management; Personnel and
volunteer management; Public relations/ Media
relations, Marketing; Legal issues; Knowledge of
food, nutrition, agriculture, community
development, Program development, Website
development/use; Experience with farmers markets
as a market manager or vendor, Business and/or
Civic Community member; Knowledge in or
participation in: Govt. agencies-health,
agriculture,
or Educational institutions, the Farm/gardening
community, Minority groups, including Native
American tribes, Youth groups and associations)
