Co-working session for farmers markets: preparing for ICE

As we see an increase in racial profiling and illegal ICE activity across the country and within Oregon, we believe it’s important for market communities to have plans in place for how to navigate this type of emergency.

Please join us as we work together to draft, revise and update market emergency plans.

We’ll be joined by Amber Orion, a community organizer with Rural Organizing Project and Hood River Latino Network, who will provide history and context of ICE in Oregon.

Using their experience in immigration and rapid response, Amber will help market staff…

  • Identify what illegal enforcement activity looks like and when and where these harmful scenarios might occur

  • Guide market managers on the best first steps for planning effective resistance on site, as well as how to support your community outside of market days and the market season

  • Establish your market’s allies and pillars of support
