Connecting Across Languages & Cultures to Grow Sales

Portland Farmers Market, in collaboration with OFMA, will host a series of three webinars for market vendors this winter. These engaging sessions aim to make Oregon's farmers markets welcoming for every visitor, thereby increasing vendor success.

In our February webinar, nationally recognized food-systems leader, professional development coach, and strategic advisor Sagdrina Brown Jalal will facilitate an interactive session offering practical communication strategies to better serve diverse shoppers, strengthen trust, and support increased sales and shopper retention.

Farmers markets increasingly serve multilingual, multicultural communities. While vendors and managers are deeply committed to welcoming shoppers, communication barriers and unexamined assumptions can unintentionally limit engagement and sales.

Participants will explore how language, culture, and unconscious bias shape shopper experience—and how small shifts in communication can lead to measurable market benefits.

All farmers market vendors who attend the workshop live on February 19th will be entered to win a $40 visa gift card!
